NIGHT-TIME closures will be in place from next week on the A370 to resurface the road and “improve traffic flow and congestion”.

The closures will be in place on the A370 Wood Hill junction, near Congresbury, and will last from Monday, October 28 to Friday, November 8.

A North Somerset Council spokesperson said: “We've been working to update the A370 Wood Hill junction, as part of a wider programme to help improve traffic flow and congestion in the long term.

“We’re now getting to the stage where we need to fully resurface the road, paint new lining and install the new traffic sensors – all to prepare for removing the narrow lanes on the A370, and the road closure on Wood Hill.

“To do this safely, and minimise disruption as much as possible, there'll be night-time closures in place from next Monday (October 28) to Friday, November 8.

“The closure will be from 8pm to 6am each weeknight, with a signed diversion in place.

“The roads will be open outside of these hours and there won't be overnight closures during that weekend (Saturday 2 and Sunday, November 3).

“First West of England bus services X1 and A3 will be impacted while the overnight closures are in place – check the comments to find out more.
