RIVERS in North Somerset have been issued with an amber flood alert this morning, Saturday 19, 2024.
Starting from 9.30am, rising river levels may lead to flooding, although no property flooding is expected.
Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the Congresbury Yeo, with low lying land and roads expected to be most affected, particularly around roads at Wrington.
Weather conditions are expected to improve on Saturday, however a further period of rain is expected on Sunday morning. The Environment Agency is closely monitoring rainfall and river levels.
The Environment Agency advice is: “Please remain aware of local water levels and weather conditions, and avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses. Don't put yourself or others at risk.”
Flood alert area: Rivers in North Somerset including Congresbury Yeo, Cheddar Yeo, Axe and tributaries.
