CLEVEDON Marine Lake will close for silt removal tomorrow (Tuesday, October 8).
Marlens, the charity looking after the lake, said the closure will be in place for about a week to scoop up the mud and return it to the estuary from where it came.
The sluice gates will open to start draining the lake at 1.20pm. It will take about seven hours to fully empty.
Sarah Swash, chair of Marlens, said: “We welcome all visitors to come and watch, and return at 9am on Wednesday, wearing old clothes, wellies and gloves, to help clean up litter and/or rescue any stranded fish (including eels) from the puddles in the lake.
“You may even find lost valuables on the seabed which we can seek to reunite with their owners.
“Thank you in advance for any help you can give.”
The lake will be closed for about one week and will start to refill again soon after 6pm on Wednesday, October 16.
“With a tide in excess of 13 metres, it promises to be spectacular – please do come and join us to watch,” Sarah added.
