A MODERN British restaurant in Clevedon has been included in The Michelin Guide 2024.
Puro, as its website explaines, is an elegant and intimate modern British restaurant, serving dishes created using the best of local seasonal ingredients with influences of flavours from across the world.
The team, led by MasterChef the Professionals finalist Tommy Thorn, said: “We are thrilled to be included in The Michelin Guide 2024.
“We are the first restaurant in Clevedon to achieve this.
“Since MasterChef the Professionals Finalist Tommy Thorn joined us back in May he has increased his kitchen team and is making excellent progress.
“This was recognised by Michelin, and we are extremely happy to be included in such a prestigious guide.”
Since opening in 2017, Puro has gained an excellent reputation and established itself as one of the best eateries in North Somerset, the website also explained.
The Michelin Guide website reads: “selections are awarded monthly, based on the anonymous and independent dining experiences of our inspection teams, and they are re-evaluated each year.
“Five criteria are applied in an identical manner around the world when assessing a restaurant:
• The quality of the ingredients used
• The mastery of cooking and culinary techniques
• The harmony of flavours
• The personality of the cuisine as expressed through the dishes
• And consistency, both across the entire menu and between visits.
The Michelin website said about Puro: “Tucked away beneath the Vintage & Vine wine shop and bar, you’ll find ‘Masterchef: The Professionals’ finalist Tommy Thorn and his team hard at work in this subterranean restaurant.
“Diners can choose between a concise seasonal à la carte and a tasting menu of elaborate dishes, but ensure you always begin with the delicious brioche and Marmite butter.
“Sensible pricing, a carefully curated wine selection and the occasional guest chef evening all add to the appeal.”
Selections are announced now once a month and only a handful of restaurants from across the country are included.
