PROBUS Club Portishead will host its monthly and annual general meeting next week, including a sit-down lunch.
On Wednesday, September 18, the meeting will be held at Clarence House, High Street, Portishead.
It will be starting at noon for drinks in the bar, followed by a sit-down, two-course lunch at approximately 1pm. The cost of lunch is £25 per head.
This month's guest speaker is Mr Lawrence Smith, a "local highly experienced Structural Engineer with over 50 years' experience".
Probus Club organisers said: "Lawrence is an articulate and entertaining speaker who will reflect on some of the county’s engineering, sometimes tricky challenges.
"Probus has over 50 regular, like-minded members who enjoy meeting and discussing a wide range of topics every month, resulting in long-standing friendships."
The membership consists mainly of semi or fully-retired gentlemen, and the Club holds summer and Christmas lunches to include wives and partners which is "very well supported and is considered an important part of the Club's itinerary".
Those interested in joining can call the Club Secretary on 07711 385825. There is an annual fee of £20. There is free parking for members at Clarence House.
