STABLES at the back of a North Somerset farmhouse — which has long since been swallowed by the suburbs of Nailsea — could be turned into a habitable annexe.
Kingshill farmhouse was once a farm near the town but it is today located within its suburbs between North Street and Fir Leaze.
There are now plans to convert the pretty Grade II listed farmhouse’s stables into an annexe to the house to be used by the owner's family members.
Under the plans, the stable’s roof would be replaced and the open veranda would be infilled and covered with a felt flat roof.
A statement submitted with the planning application said: “The existing mono pitched roof will be replaced with new mono pitched roof at same pitch and height as existing with lightweight roof tiles.
“The existing open verandah will be infilled and covered with felt flat roof. Conservation velux windows will be installed in sloping roof areas.
“Timber double glazed windows painted white. External walls to be timber frame with timber cladding boards/cream render external finish.
“The proposed structure will replicate existing stable roof as regards height and pitch with the addition of flat roof section along front to reduce impact and roof height.
“The use will be for family members.”
