GORDANO School in Portishead has been celebrating its students after their positive GCSE results.

A spokesperson for the school said: “On Thursday 22nd August we welcomed our Year 11 students into school to collect their GCSE results.

“We are so proud of each, and every student and we were delighted to be able to share the morning with our young people to celebrate their achievements.

“There was a host of top performers; with 30 pupils achieving at least eight Grade 7s or better.

“These include Lucas F, who secured a Grade 9 in all 10 of his GCSEs, Saskia P, Emily W (with nine Grade 9s), Sophie B (with eight Grade 9s) and Femke L (with seven Grade 9s).

“Achievement across the whole ability profile has been strong and we are especially pleased with the progress of our disadvantaged students, as they have achieved the best outcomes in the last five years.”

Gordano’s Headteacher, Louise Blundell, commented, “We are so pleased to be able to celebrate the achievements of our fabulous Year 11 students.

“As a cohort they have brilliantly navigated their educational journey, demonstrating their resilience and determination each step of the way.

“We are so delighted to see their individual achievements today but also the contributions they have made to our community over the last 5 years.

“We are incredibly proud of the young people they have grown into through their time at Gordano School – they are a wonderful year group, and we wish them all the very best in their future pathway.

“Many of our young people will be returning to Gordano Sixth Form, which saw some pleasing results last week.

“Whether our students are staying with us, moving onto college or progressing to Apprenticeships, we wish them every success in their bright futures.

“Congratulations to them all and I would also like to extend a huge thank you to our staff and parents who have supported them unconditionally.”
