A BARN on a North Somerset farm could soon be turned into a place for dog agility training classes.
Several buildings on Brinsea Green Farm, near Congresbury, have become “surplus to requirements” as the farm sold off its 225 strong dairy herd in 2022.
Now, as the farm looks to diversify its income, it has applied for North Somerset Council for planning permission to change the use of one of its barns to a dog agility facility.
There are no proposed changes to the floorplan or to the existing structure of the building, but the open ends of the barn would be closed up under the plans.
A statement submitted with the application said: “The dog agility operation requires an indoor arena for dog agility training for multiple classes per day across the week.”
Although the dairy herd has been sold off, agriculture continues on the farm with wheat and maize grown and some livestock still reared.
