TICKENHAM Flower Show, an annual event, will be returning this summer on Saturday, August 17.
It will take place between 12.30pm and 5pm. The event is now in its 77th year and is one of the few remaining village flowers shows still under canvas.
The event not only exhibits flowers but also includes entertainment, food, drink and activities for friends and families to enjoy. The range of activities covers all ages, with something for everybody.
The flower show was established in 1947, continuing annually on the third Saturday of August. It is an opportunity for locals to come together and enjoy a lovely, fun-filled day with lots of exciting activities to get involved in.
A spokesperson for the event said: “There will be over 1000 exhibits from approximately 700 different exhibitors.”
Entertainment will be provided by Portishead Concert Band, an amateur band with woodwind, brass, drummer and bass players.
As well as an urban community drumming group. A fun dog show will also be available for further entertainment.
There will be various stalls available, including craft, spinning, and weaving.
Also available will be a beer tent, hog roasts, and ice-creams. The Women’s Institute will also be doing teas.
The event is usually attended by around 500 to 600 people.
The event also offers a free park and ride from the land adjacent to Tickenham Golf Club, making travelling to and from the event simple and accessible.
