CLEVEDON School’s Year 13 students, “are very proud of themselves” after receiving their exam results.
Students received news of their A-Level exams today (Thursday, August 15) creating both individual stories of success as well as collective success for the school as a whole.
Jim Smith, headteacher, said: “I am so proud of staff and students as we have had a truly special morning celebrating some great individual stories, as well as communal success as a year group.
“The students should feel very proud of themselves as they have bucked many national trends including the number of A/A* grades achieved.”
Jim Smith said: “It is exciting that the students can now access the next chapter of their life, be it university, apprenticeships or employment knowing they have achieved well and have the confidence to go on and make a positive contribution to society.”
Outgoing Head of Sixth Form, Katie Whiting, who is leaving her role to complete a doctorate in Educational Psychology added: “I am thrilled to see this, my last cohort. achieve such great and embark on the next exciting challenge of their life. We are so proud of them”.
Chair of Governors, Sue Meaker, added: “The results are something the wider school community should be proud of – the Governing body are thrilled for each and every student.”
Clevedon School students achieved 28 per cent A/A* per cent grades and the students have secured places at Oxbridge, Bristol University Medical School, a wide variety of universities and a range of apprenticeships, with some students opting for a gap year before taking up their place.
All students are supported throughout the Sixth Form in deciding a ‘Post18 Pathway’ with a range of support from the ‘Futures team’ including work experience, mock interviews and personal mentoring.
This support package was graded as Outstanding by OFSTED in the school’s May 2024 inspection.
