CONSTRUCTION roads are being reinstated in Nailsea as a project to install an high voltage electricity line to “connect six millions homes and businesses” continues.

National Grid is building a new 57 kilometre, high voltage electricity line between Bridgwater and Avonmouth to connect six million homes and businesses to new sources of homegrown, low carbon energy.

This involves the Hinkley Point Connection Project reinstating the section of construction roads and accesses from Nailsea Wall north towards Tickenham and south towards Kennmoor Road that were used to build the new T-pylons, National Grid explained.

Another message from National Grid said: “As part of our reinstatement works, we need to remove the stone that we used to build the temporary construction roads and bring peat in.

“You may have noticed an increase in HGV traffic as we have started to coordinate these deliveries.

“There will be an average of 30 HGV wagon movements per day across this area.

“There will be more daily vehicle movements than this during certain periods and fewer on others, depending on where we are working.

“On the current programme, the deliveries will continue until late Summer 2025.

“Please note this may be subject to change and we will aim to keep you updated as our reinstatement works progress.

“We apologise for any inconvenience this increased traffic may cause.”
