A NEW operator will run a North Somerset bus service suspended without prior notice.

North Somerset Council confirmed that The Big Lemon will continue to run the X10 bus service from Monday, July 22 to Saturday, August 31, until a long-term solution is agreed.

On Friday, July 12, North Somerset Council said they were informed that Transpora bus services, the company that was contracted to operate the X10 service, "had been suspended without prior notice".

The North Somerset Times contacted Transpora for more information.

Transpora operated several bus services across the West of England area, including the X10 route, which is a commercial service and the only route in North Somerset directly affected by this suspension.

The X10 service runs between Clevedon, Portishead, Cribbs Causeway, Filton, and Southmead Hospital.

North Somerset Council said they immediately engaged in discussions with other bus operators to secure a longer-term solution for the X10 service and is pleased to announce that operator The Big Lemon has agreed today, Friday, July 19, to run the X10 service until the end of August 2024.

The X10 will run as normal from this weekend onwards, using the existing route and the same timetable.

Cllr Mike Bell, Leader of North Somerset Council, said: “We’d like to thank The Big Lemon for stepping in at such short notice to ensure that the X10 service continues to operate.

“Their willingness to support our community during this unexpected disruption is greatly appreciated.

“We would also like to thank our residents for their patience and understanding during this period of uncertainty as we work towards a sustainable, long-term solution for the X10 service.”

Further updates on the operation of the X10 and all our other services will be provided in the coming weeks.
