A MAN has been jailed for eight months after pleading guilty to a non-dwelling burglary in Backwell.
Kane Lewis 33, of no fixed address, was sentenced on Tuesday, July 16 to eight months in prison after he pleaded guilty to committing the burglary where he smashed his way into Heaven Coffee House, Backwell, in the early hours of December 11, 2023.
Once inside he stole the money till and staff tip jar, causing damage to the till and front door.
He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £154.
The officer in charge PC Joe REED from the Nailsea neighbourhood policing team said: “Offences like this have a significant impact on shop owners, shop workers, and the wider general public, affecting the business financially.
“This sentence will hopefully prevent offending from continuing.”
