Nailsea and District Community Transport (NDCT) has launched two new electric community buses.
It was funded by the £177,060 raised from the Nailsea Town Council's Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL).
The celebration launch event for the new buses took place on June 26 at 2.30pm at Coates House in Nailsea High Street.
Drinks and a social time gave the perfect opportunity for stakeholders to view the new additions.
James Tonkin, the vice chair of Nailsea Town Council, cut the ribbon to officially launch the vehicles.
In his speech, he said: "This initiative marks a significant step forward in improving the mobility and connectivity of our community, whilst supporting our environmental objectives to reduce carbon emissions.
"But the new buses are not just about getting from one place to another, they are about bringing people together, fostering inclusivity and ensuring that everyone, regardless of age or ability, has access to reliable and convenient greener transport.
"This project is a testament to what can be achieved when we work together with a shared vision of progress, environmental objectives, and community support.
"I would like to extend my thanks to everyone who has contributed to making these new electric buses a reality.
"Your hard work and dedication are very much appreciated and will have a lasting impact on our community."
Last year, NDCT carried out over 13,000 journeys for their approximated 508 members.
The introduction of the electric buses is expected to greatly improve local air quality and noise pollution, whilst boosting cost savings to the 'Not for Profit' Community Benefit Society.
Chairman of NDCT, Cameron Stewart said: "Last year, over 13,000 journeys were carried out with our fleet of diesel minibuses.
"You will appreciate the advantages that these two new electric minibuses will make to local air quality and noise pollution as well as cost savings to NDCT - a 'Not for Profit' Community Benefit Society, which is celebrating 30 years of service within the community, this year."
The new electric buses mark a significant achievement as NDCT continues to provide its services to the local community and make strides toward eco-friendly transportation options.
