FAIRFIELD School in Backwell enjoyed putting on a successful production of William Shakespeare's The Tempest live at The Tobacco Factory in Bristol.
The exciting performance by the talented Year 6s presented an edited screenplay that retained Shakespeare’s original language, but the twist is that it had been skilfully shortened by Year 6 teacher Miss Plumb into a charming hour-long production.
To make sure The Tempest was engaging and exciting for all the audience members no matter their age, the original dialogue was combined with the school’s chosen songs, which was arranged by the Fairfield School’s very own gifted music teacher, Miss Clara Jeffery.
The ensemble of 13 students presented a polished and sincere performance, showcasing their dedication and effort since embarking on learning their lines several weeks ago.
Performing at the Spielman Theatre at The Tobacco Factory provided the young thespians with the experience of performing on a professional stage.
The show was a huge success, with the evening selling out. The play was very well received by the wonderful audience.
Headteacher Mrs Barton said: "This has been a fantastic opportunity for our Year 6 children and has provided a fun and interesting introduction to Shakespeare.
"The whole experience helps to foster confidence in public speaking, teamwork and an appreciation for classic literature."
