A MOTHER and daughter walked 100 miles in May to raise nearly £1,000 for Cancer Research UK.
Margaret Maynard and her daughter, Karen, completed the Cancer Research Challenge last month.
They crushed their original goal of £200 and have so far raised £920.
This challenge encouraged supporters to walk 100 miles within the month of May and raise funds for Cancer Research.
Four years ago, Margaret Maynard was diagnosed with cancer and is still undergoing treatment.
She explained her experience motivated them to take on the fundraiser: "We’re very thankful for the treatment I’ve had and I’m sure much of this is down to cancer research and trials, we wanted to support further cancer research to help those diagnosed with cancer have good outcomes."
Cancer Research UK doesn't stipulate a specific fundraising amount for participants, but typically recommends about £150 as a reasonable target.
The charity said on its website: "Our goal is for three in four people to survive their cancer by 2034 and every step we take towards beating cancer relies on every pound donated."
