A NUMBER of community events will take place across North Somerset this month to celebrate Pride.

North Somerset LGBT+ Forum is hosting three events in June.

The first, in Nailsea, will unfold at the Ring O Bells on Saturday, June 8.

Two weeks later, on June 23, Portishead Youth Centre will be the home of Portishead's community Pride event.

Finally, on Saturday, June 29, Clevedon’s community Pride event will take over The Old Inn Clevedon.

All of the events are free to enter and will run from noon to 6pm.

A North Somerset Council said: "We’re flying the Progress Pride flag above the Town Hall in Weston and Castlewood in Clevedon.

"We stand with our LGBTQIA+ communities.

"We’re committed to making North Somerset a fairer place to be, for everyone.

"Love is love."

North Somerset Times:

The design of the Progress Pride flag encompasses more than just the rainbow colours of the original Pride flag.

It also includes black, brown, pink, pale blue and white stripes, standing for marginalised people of colour in the LGBTQIA+ community, as well as the trans community, and those living with HIV and AIDS.

The spokesperson added: "There’s lots happening all over North Somerset to celebrate Pride.

"Beautifully Proud, a month-long programme of events, activities, exhibitions and performances celebrating Pride month, is running throughout June in venues across Weston."

More information about the festivities can be found on the Visit Weston-super-Mare website.
