Bristol Airport has donated a 17-seater minibus to Blagdon’s BVMA to help transport local groups and residents to surrounding areas like Wells, Weston-super-Mare, Bath and Clevedon.
The Airport’s Motor Transport team donated one of their surplus minibuses to the Blagdon Valley Minibus Association (BVMA), a group that helps organise travel for people without access to conventional transport.
As well as the BVMA, Winford Community Transport group will also use the minibus to provide similar trips for the residents of Winford.
For many regular users, these trips represent the only time they leave Blagdon and BVMA operate these excursions with unpaid volunteer drivers and charge low fares designed to cover the costs in providing the service.
Because of the lack of public transport in the area, BVMA’s minibuses are used by large numbers of Blagdon’s residents and organised groups every year for trips to nearby villages, shops, and attractions.
Some of the groups include local Scouts, Guides, Youth Week, W.I., Living Well Church Group, Ukrainian refugee support group, Black2Nature group supporting black young people, Blagdon and Ubley schools.
BVMA also runs direct links to Langford to link up with the Firstbus scheduled service to Bristol.
