PORTISHEAD'S Coastguard Rescue team were called out over the weekend after receiving reports of a possible casualty stuck in the mud in the River Avon.
Along with the Clevedon Coastguard Rescue team, the police, the fire and the ambulance services, the Portishead crew raced to the scene at around 10.57am on Saturday, April 6.
However, on arrival, no casualty was found.
A spokesperson from the Portishead Coastguard Rescue team said: "Tasking 21 - 6/4/2024 10:57.
"Team were tasked with Clevedon Coastguard Rescue Team alongside Avon fire, police and ambulance to a possible casualty stuck in mud in the River Avon.
"No casualty was found. A call with good intent."
Speaking previously, a spokesperson for the life-saving crew said: "If you are ever in doubt along the coastline, never be afraid to call 999 and make that call that could save a life!"
