THE Grand Pier is amongst 16 North Somerset businesses which have achieved high food hygiene ratings so far this year.

Other high scoring companies include Libra Fish Bar Takeaway in Weston and Old Inn in Congresbury.

All of these establishments have scored a five out of five rating, meaning that they are clean, handle food safely and uphold good hygiene practices.

This includes preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage of food.

Businesses that receive a low food hygiene score are encouraged to work with the council to improve their rating or face closure.
