PLANS have been submitted to turn the ground floor of a Weston night club into an office space.
The application for Club FreeLove, which was validated on February 19, reads: "The owners from Grosvenor DCR (next door) are in need of a larger premises and it has come at the right time to expand and no better than to move into their own property.
"Creation of a self-contained commercial unit allowing full usage of the whole ground floor for both the staff and clients.
"The premises has been arranged to provide accessible facilities, chill-out areas, meeting rooms (pods) and still maintaining the privacy areas for the more confidential arrangements.
"The proposal is within Weston’s conservation area and therefore is subject to Article 4 directive. There are no historical features to the existing shop front and therefore no policies of relevance within the local strategy plan. Although it is policy to preserve and enhance the area and therefore it is believed that the design proposal will meet the guidelines as set.
"Past changes introduced a modern façade/shop front back in 1965 to the ground floor that has subsequently been altered, added and painted to suit recent business usage, such as the walled veranda as a smoking area, the infilled shop front as a form of privacy to the then United Services Social Club with a touch of glazing to bring some light into the building.
"The proposal is to remove the non-insulated brickwork and glassing and replace this with powder coated aluminium windows and doors. No original features and or structure will be altered, changed or removed/replaced. Therefore, the proposal will be a vast improvement to the area."
