Staff and residents at a care home in Yatton were treated to an interactive Valentine's table decorating workshop.
Barchester’s Cadbury Hall care home hosted a virtual training session run by Kathryn Delve, a seasoned florist based in Somerset.
Residents were invited to participate in producing Valentine’s-themed table displays, slated to adorn the home in preparation for Valentine's Day celebrations.
Ms. Delve, who draws inspiration from the ever-changing Somerset scenery, encouraged residents to select flowers that appealed to their preferences, be they traditional Valentine's red or varied Spring hues.
She said: "Delivering fun workshops like this is absolutely the best part of my job.
"I just love helping people create something beautiful and seeing how much pleasure they gain from the experience.
"These table decorations are such a simple thing to do but so effective when you see them around the home.
"I’m so glad I was able to work with the Barchester residents today, we all had a wonderful afternoon together."
Bex Vernon, resident experience coordinator for Barchester Healthcare, was equally pleased with the collaborative effort and the residents' enjoyment.
She said: "We are excited to work with our amazing partners like Kathryn to bring a wide range of fantastic experiences into our homes for all to enjoy.
"It was brilliant to see the residents having a great time creating beautiful Valentine’s displays, such a lovely activity for everyone to take part in."
Ms Vernon also noted the importance of the life enrichment programme in keeping residents active, socially connected, and engaged in a variety of physical, mental, and spiritual activities tailored to individual interests and abilities.
Cristina Iliuta, the general manager, echoed Vernon’s sentiments about the impact of the workshop: "It was wonderful that our residents were able to follow along and create their own displays using flowers from our local florist.
"It was a fantastic afternoon, we’re so grateful to Kathryn for helping us make the home look so lovely for Valentine’s Day."
Barchester Healthcare runs Cadbury Hall, providing residential care for about 34 residents, catering for short respite care to long-term stays.
