PARTS of North Somerset are in for a soaking this afternoon.
A flood alert has been issued for areas surrounding Weston-super-Mare, Yatton, Kenn and Clevedon. This mainly refers to the coastline between Gullhouse Point and Marine Parade.
Places close to Clapton Wick and Clapton-in-Gordano are included in this alert.
A flood warning has been issued for areas around Portbury Wharf, encompassing the nature reserve and the dock.
According to the GOV.UK website, a flood alert is issued to urge residents to prepare for the possibility of flooding, whilst a warning means locals should take active measures to ensure that their property is kept safe.
This includes moving important documents to a high area and turning off your gas or electricity.
If you live in a coastal area, you are urged to avoid or move carefully along beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads.
If you can, you should avoid driving through large puddles.
