LIFE-saving crew members from RNLI Portishead were called out yesterday (Tuesday, January 30) after an upturned kayak was spotted floating on the River Avon.
The crew received the call yesterday morning before they made their way to the river to check that there was no one in difficulty.
A spokesperson from the North Somerset RNLI team said: "Our volunteer crew were tasked with checking that an upturned floating kayak on the River Avon did not involve anyone in difficulty.
"Launching at 10.36am, they made their way up the river, where they confirmed that it was a stray kayak and no one needed any assistance.
"The crew returned to the station at 11.25am.
"This was the second call out of the year for @RNLIPortishead, and the first shout for Beccy, our new trainee shore crew.
"Thank you to all our volunteers for responding to call outs to ensure people are safe."
