Members of a Highdale School chess club from the 1960s reunited for the first time in decades.
Gathering at Five the Beach, Clevedon, those who attended reminisced over their chess matches from yesteryears.
Started and run by Mike Nobes in the early 1960s, the club boasted over fifty members, conducting regular inter-club competitions.
Brian Gosling and Valentine Rideout who attended the reunion, praised the dedication and hard work of Mr Nobes in establishing the club.
They said: "This was the first time the group had been together for fifty-nine years, so there were many happy memories!"
Mr Rideout travelled from Brecon, Wales with his wife, Anne, just to be part of this special congregation.
Today, the school, re-established at Swiss Valley, continues to uphold the chess legacy initiated by Mr Nobes, competing in the Bristol and District Chess League and the Sunday Times School Championship.
