Friends of Trendlewood Park is looking for more volunteers to join its group which manages Trendlewood Community Park in Nailsea.

The group also plans to meet on the third Tuesday of each month, from 10am to 1pm at The Old Farmhouse.

The voluntary group manages Trendlewood Community Park in partnership with the North Somerset Council (NSC).

Pat Gilbert, chair of Friends of Trendlewood Park, said: "Friends had an eventful year, and, with NSC support, some significant changes have taken place in the way we work.

"After almost 25 years of looking after Nowhere Wood and subsequently Trendlewood Park we have handed over more demanding park management tasks we do to the North Somerset Green team."

Variety of birds, mammals, and insects are reportedly making Trendlewood Park their home, making each walk a wildlife-spotting adventure.

Ms Gilbert added: "In 2024 we want to extend awareness of the park and its facilities to schools, youth groups and the NHS."

The Trendlewood Park, despite receiving a Green Flag status since 2012 according to the Nailsea Town Council, remains an underexplored resource to many in the town.

Key highlights of Trendlewood Park include the woodland, which has roots tracing back to the Trendlewood Quarry operational between the 1850s to 1930s.

The council said the Green Flag Award Scheme offers recognition and rewards for areas that manage parks and green spaces to an exemplary standard.

The Green Flag status, the council said, brings the status of being affiliated with a prestigious awards programme.

However, the park isn't free from challenges.

The Friends of Trendlewood Park and NSC Community Support Officers are closely monitoring persistent issues of vandalism and anti-social behaviour that often result in rubbish and potential hazards strewn about the park.
