A charity that operates in North Somerset has won big at a national awards.
Alive Activities, based in Bristol, was crowned winner of the Hennell Award for Innovation & Excellence in Dementia Care.
The event was presented by the Association for Dementia Studies at the University of Worcester in November.
It was formally presented to Isobel Jones, the charity's CEO, and Nicola Taylor, the delivery and training manager.
The award, which celebrates those creating positive change for dementia patients, commended Alive Activities for their significant work promoting person-centred care across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.
Its meeting centres, providing emotional and practical support for individuals affected by dementia, were lauded for their dynamic leadership and innovative standards of work.
The judges notably appreciated Alive Activities' resilience in facing challenges and its 'innovative and excellent standard of work'.
Dementia meeting centre manager, Louise Spencer, said: "On behalf of the Alive team, I am delighted that our meeting centres have been recognised by the University of Worcester.
"Thanks to our professional, skilled and passionate staff, our members have built strong relationships and supportive communities that help them continue to live independently and enjoy life - we also have loads of fun!"
In North Somerset, Alive Activities' meeting centre meets in Clevedon, Portishead and Nailsea weekly.
It's part of the charity's varied services including the Dementia meeting centres and community gardening opportunities, aiming to bring meaningful activity and intergenerational connections to older people, those living with dementia, and their carers.
