ISY and Nigel North and their young family will soon be celebrating an astonishing 35 years of business running their very own plant nursey, Sara Badran writes.

Middlecome Nursery is idyllically situated on Wrington Road in Congresbury.

Ambition, hard work, and sheer determination has seen them achieve their dream of turning the once overgrown and run down site into a thriving nursery offering a wide selection of quality, home-grown plants.

This friendly-family run business now proudly involves three generations of Norths, including daughter Becci, and Nigel’s 91-year-old mother, Mave, who even still loves to help out and get involved from time to time!

With the innovative addition of their very popular coffee shop, CUPPA, the company currently employs 25 local people, one or two of whom have worked for and supported the family since the business’ early days.

The business continues to thrive and expand and now offers a quirky selection of garden ornaments and statues, hand-picked by the Middlecombe team, as well as many unique, reclaimed pieces of ‘Gardenalia’.

The hard work the family have invested into this business over the years has paid off as they enjoy the celebration of 35 years of teamwork, resilience, and commitment to create the wonderfully successful plant nursery they run today.
