EXCITING plans have been made for the development of a much-needed medical centre in Congresbury, writes Josie Cohen.
Earlier this month, news emerged telling of the unfortunate closure of the Congresbury GP Surgery due to it being an “inadequate small facility.”
BoKlok, a residential home provider jointly owned by Skanska and IKEA, and M7 Planning aim to help the community through their scheme.
This development would include a state of the art high-spec medical centre with the help of a £2,000,000 contribution. It will allow for more effective treatment, with a capacity for between 16,000 and 18,000 patients.
Furthermore, the accessibility of the location would be increased, making it ideal for the local citizens.
Alongside the medical centre, previously submitted plans to the North Somerset Council are also being considered.
47 two and three-bedroom homes are set to be built at Smallway, Congresbury.
The scheme would also be landscape and ecologically sensitive through its environmentally friendly designs. This includes dedicated bat flight routes and low lux lighting.
Also being thought of is the appeal to first-time buyers, with low costs and benefits such as bike storage for residents.
BoKlok hopes to help the area progress and that through this work, the people of Congresbury will feel the true impacts that the well-designed medical centre and high-quality homes will give citizens.
