STEVE Kinsella, 78, a local cyclist and artist, has released a second book of colourful watercolour paintings of Somerset cafés and cycle rides. With the release of his second book, Steve’s ‘I’m out for coffee!’ series now covers visits to about 56 active cafés.
Steve, a retired consulting engineer, says: ‘Most of the cafés are within a two hour’s cycle ride from my home near Clevedon. Whether people cycle or not, they seem to enjoy the quirky and colourful pictures.
Steve said: "Maybe they’re encouraged to try a new place to visit. The little books are a handy guide and make popular presents."
Steve re-started painting before lockdown, and his series on the causes and consequences of climate change has been exhibited twice locally.
Steve’s work depicts a variety of scenes at local cafés, such as the tranquil garden of Tiffin Cafe in Kingston Seymour and the sun slanting through Mokoko Coffee at Portishead Marina.
Both ‘I’m out for coffee!’ books can be found at several cafés in the area, or online at stevekinsellaart.etsy.com. They are self-published and printed locally, and are available at a cost of £9 each. More of Steve’s art can be seen on his website sjkart.co.uk.
