CLEVEDON Choral is adding new strings to its bow with the addition of an orchestra for its spring concert this weekend.
The 45-strong singing group will be headliners at the Patronal Festival at St John’s Church on Saturday (May 13).
As part of the festival there is also a concert tonight (Thursday, May 11) by baritone and Clevedon Choral’s musical director Matthew Clark.
It is a collaboration with pianist - and Clevedon Choral’s accompanist - Richard Lennox.
Entitled ‘Before and After Summer’, it includes songs set to the words of Thomas Hardy by English composer Gerald Finzi, who lived in Gloucestershire.
Clevedon Choral’s festival finale concert Sound The Trumpets takes place at St John’s on Saturday (May 13) at 7.30pm, and features an eight-piece orchestra provided by Inspired Concerts.
The group will perform Haydn’s 'Nelson Mass' and 'Te Deum' and will have a celebratory vibe continuing on from the flag-waving jubilance of the King’s coronation last weekend.
To attend both concerts, pay on the door.
Ticket prices are £10 for Thursday and £14 for Saturday and include wine.
