SCORES of jubilant pupils are enjoying their new £73,000 outside learning ‘wonderland’ at Yeo Moor Primary School, Clevedon, after its official opening.

The pupils can now have fun playing and learning outside all year round and in all weather.

This week the pupils have been trying out their fun bike trail, play area, and incredible learning-through-play activity wonderland.

In an official launch, the school hosted special guest Andrea Arlidge, chief executive of Futura Learning Partnership.

Yeo Moor is part of the partnership, a multi-academy trust that serves the communities in and around Bath, Bridgwater, Bristol and Clevedon.

Parents and governors, and Friends of Yeo Moor, who helped fundraise for the play area, were also in attendance as it was declared officially open.

Ms Arlidge said: “This is a tremendous outdoor play area and I am delighted to declare it officially open.

"It has been wonderful to see so many pupils using it and I’m confident it will have a positive impact on their wellbeing and learning.”

Head teacher Roland Lovatt said: "There has been huge excitement at the prospect of this new outside play area.

"It is absolutely brilliant and the pupils are enjoying every minute on there.”

Yeo Moor Primary School is a high performing school, with Ofsted rating it as ‘outstanding’ for early years provision and ‘good’ in all other categories.

It also has an amazing outside area and flourishing forest school.

Yeo Moor uses innovative measures in its learning including creating an 'irresistible curriculum' so children are passionate about going to school, putting book stories at the centre of study, and implementing an ethos of 'reading - inspiring - writing' in every subject.
