CLEVEDON AC members recently collaborated with the Clevedon & District Food Bank to organise a Food Bank Run.
The initiative was started by Fareham Running Club in 2018. The running groups in February from across the UK were encouraged to hold their own event to help highlight the work of Food Banks and the need for donations at this time of year.
Club members loaded up their backpacks with items collected over recent weeks and ran down to the Food Bank on Knowles Road, where they were welcomed by volunteers, including Project Manager Sue Regan.
A spokesperson said :"Sue very kindly gave members a tour of the new, larger premises and a talk about how the Food Bank operates and we were welcomed by Food Bank by Alison Kember (Chair of Trustees)."
The donated items were weighed and sorted the following day and totalled over 128kg. With increased living costs, the support offered by the Food Bank is even more important at the moment, providing a vital service to local residents in North Somerset. Club members were pleased to contribute to the Food Bank supplies and grateful to Sue and her team for the visit.
