THERE has been a flood warning in the Portishead region this morning.
Residents near the coast at Portishead and Portbury Dock, seafront properties and Portbury Dock areas are told to expect high winds and potential flooding from higher tides overtopping coastline defences.
There will be north-westerly force 5 winds. Flooding is expected between Portishead Point and Avonmouth including Portishead Ashlands Nature Reserve and the Royal Portbury Dock.
Residents are urged to avoid beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads, since large waves and sea spray could be dangerous to passerbys.
There will be a further update at noon today, February 22, or as the situation changes.
Residents can better understand their area's flood risk by visiting the 3,500 measuring stations, most are which are located along main rivers and the coast.
This can help local people prepare their homes and plan their day to ensure the safety of themselves and their property.
