LAST month the local community teamed up with rangers from The National Trust to plant 30 blossom trees at Glastonbury Tor.
The trees were planted at the foot of the Tor on January 22. The event was followed closely by a traditional wassail celebration in the orchards.
Wassail celebrations have been held for generations, designed to ward off bad spirits that wish to ruin the harvest. They are traditionally held in winter to ensure a bountiful crop in the autumn.
Singing, poetry reading and making loud noises to ward off bad spirits were just some of the activities the volunteers took part in.
The tree planting has also aided the National Trust's Blossom Project, which seeks to rejuvenate the area's orchards.
Joel Bunting, area ranger for Glastonbury Tor, said: “We had a brilliant day working alongside the local community planting a circle of blossom trees and celebrating a wassail."
