A BODY has been recovered from Portishead Quays Marina.
Police say the body, which was found yesterday afternoon (Sunday, February 5), is believed to be that of a man in his 30s.
He had been reported missing the previous day (Saturday, February 4).
The man's death is being treated as unexplained, although no evidence has been found to suggest there are any suspicious circumstances.
Officers from the Portishead, Clevedon and Nailsea Neighbourhood Policing have been carrying out enquiries on behalf of the Coroner.
They have appealed for a woman understood to have seen the man walking near the marina in the early hours of Saturday to come forward.
A spokesperson for the neighbourhood team said yesterday: "We're sad to report that a body has been recovered from Portishead Quays Marina (yesterday) afternoon (Sunday 5 February).
"Although formal identification has not at this time been completed, we believe the body to be that of a man, in his 30s, who had been reported missing (the previous day) (Saturday 4 February).
"His family have been informed of what has happened and our thoughts are with them.
"At this time we are treating the man's death as unexplained, albeit we have found no evidence to suggest the circumstances are suspicious.
"Officers will be carrying out enquiries on behalf of the coroner.
"To help with the completion of these enquiries, we'd ask a woman who we understand saw the man walking near the marina at 12.30am yesterday (Saturday) morning to contact us on 101 and give the call-handler reference number 5223028038."
