Portishead residents turned out in true community spirit to support the town’s annual Victorian evening and craft fair on Sunday.
Despite freezing conditions, hundreds of people flocked to the High Street to join in the fun which saw the High Street closed to traffic to allow stalls and fairground rides to set up throughout the town centre.
Somewhat lacking in its traditional Victorian theme, the event made up for it in Christmas spirit with the smell of roasted chestnuts and mulled wine wafting through the street and the sound of carols and other Christmas songs, sung by community choirs, filling the air.
Youngsters had the chance to meet Santa and share their Christmas wishes, while parents enjoyed browsing the shops and stalls.
All the excitement took place under the backdrop of Portishead’s fantastic Christmas lights, which are once again providing the town with a real festive glow.
The Victorian evening and craft fair is one of the main fundraising events organised by Portishead Christmas lights committee to help fund the town’s annual festive illuminations.
