UNDER privileged families will get an extra boost this festive season when they use the foodbank after children at a school in Clevedon fundraised for the charity by selling Christmas trees.
Hundreds of people gathered at the tree sale, in Valley Road, where families chose their favourite festive decoration.
All money raised will go towards the Clevedon and District Foodbank and Friends of Clevedon School.
The charity sale was the biggest yet with craft stalls and 'Hector' the vintage coffee van.
Headmaster Jim Smith said: "The locally-grown premium trees from Frenchay Forestry were resplendent and bursting out their netting meaning so many people found their perfect tree straight away.
“Thank you to the volunteers who helped out and of course all the customers who helped raise money for charitable causes.”
Clevedon School will continue its charitable work in the community over the new year when it will host warm bank events every Wednesday beginning on January 9.
Between 5pm and 7pm anyone in the community can come to the school for a complimentary “winter warmer” three-course meal for free.
Places can be booked by emailing the school at office@clevedonschool.org.uk.
