THE landscape around Somerset has been captured in a new 'quirky and colourful' book created by a local painter and cyclist.
In 'I’m Out for Coffee!', Steve Kinsella catches some delightful scenes following the Strawberry Line in watercolour.
Steve said he began sketching the views when he was out for coffee with friends and created cheerful sights of fellow cyclists visiting cafes along the route.
After almost a year of painting his visits, he decided to place them all into a small book with a fitting title.
He said: "I did this purely for amusement but found that people really liked the pictures.
"Each picture is linked by comments on the cycle rides between the cafes."
The 76-year-old previously worked as a consulting engineer and said the process of painting and publishing was 'entirely novel'.
"I had done some painting in my 20's but I'm largely self-taught apart from a few evening classes."
The book is on sale for £9 in the Strawberry Line Community Cafe at Yatton railway station and cycle hire hub.
Steve added: “Now the book is done I’m pleased to share with others the companionable pleasure of cycling, coffee and cake.
"I continue to produce more pictures and am looking forward to adding more venues and rides all within reach of my home near Yatton.”
Steve’s pictures can be viewed on his website at sjkart.co.uk.
