Swimmers have enjoyed ‘perfect conditions’ during Clevedon’s historic long swim.
The event, which has been held since 1928, sees hardy participants brave the town’s chilly waters to embark on a one-mile swim from Ladye Bay to Clevedon Pier.
This year’s event marked the end of the inaugural Marine Lake Enthusiasts (MARLENS) Open Water Series, which also saw three aquathlons and a SwimRun held over the past two months.
A spokesman said: “This year’s long swim had perfect conditions for the 86 swimmers who took part.
“Spectators on the beach, promenade and pier were entertained with an almost endless stream of swimmers swooshing under the pier and then scrabbling up the beach to the finish.”
Members of both Clevedon Canoe Club and sailing club were on hand to ensure swimmers were kept safe.
