A Clevedon bookshop has held a party to celebrate its success.

Clevedon Community Bookshop hosted more than 50 people at its store in Copse Road, who also gathered to celebrate Co-operative Day.

A spokesman for the bookshop said: “The day was a great triumph with more than 50 people attending the party at the bookshop, which had been dressed with bunting and balloons for the occasion.

“It was a chance for all to share stories and recall significant moments of the bookshop’s short history, while offering attendees welcome nibbles and drinks.”

Michael Harriott, chairman of the bookshop’s committee, brought the party to a close by announcing the winners of its Pen A Postcard competition.

Both prizes in the competition’s children’s category went to pupils at Yeo Moor Primary School.

The bookshop is run as a community co-operative meaning anybody with shares has an equal vote on decisions regarding its running.
