Hundreds of pounds have been given to young swimmers in Clevedon.
Clevedon Amateur Swimming Club, which boasts more than 130 members, was awarded £750 by Persimmon Homes’ Severn Valley’s Healthy Communities scheme to help with training.
SwimMark co-ordinator Jan Farmery said: “We sought fundraising for the backstroke wedges to allow our swimmers to practice professional backstroke which starts preparing them for high level competition against far larger clubs.
“It is so rewarding seeing swimmers develop and progress in competitive swimming.
“We would not have such success in our club without our many volunteers who coach, plan and manage the club, providing the best environment for young swimmers.”
Winners of the £750 regional prizes could go on to win £200,000 in the national final.
