Members of Sustainable Clevedon have launched a tree planting scheme that will provide an opportunity for members of the community to purchase a Christmas gift for friends and family, whilst also giving back to the town.
Each donation of £10 will enable a tree to be planted and cared for in Clevedon and in return for the donation, each supporter will receive an e-certificate which can then be personalised and given as a gift for friends and family this Christmas.
A spokesman for Sustainable Clevedon said: "The gift of a tree is one that will grow in beauty and in value to wild life and to the planet. Planting trees will make Clevedon an even lovelier and healthier place to live. This is an ideal Christmas gift opportunity."
Scientists say that part of the solution to climate change is to plant millions of trees worldwide to absorb CO2 out of the atmosphere. Sustainable Clevedon will be planting on three farm/smallholding sites throughout December while discussing with North Somerset Council where trees can go on public land in Clevedon in the New Year. n
