The Portishead Easter Trail will begin later this week, with the aim of getting residents out in town, socially distanced, and having fun.

Organiser Tanya Marriott, who runs family footwear store SoleLution in Portishead High Street, is hoping the event will be the biggest egg hunt the town has ever seen.

Tanya said: “I have been organising the Portishead Easter Trail for many years. I set it up originally to run alongside National Fit Feet Week. That meant I could combine three passions: raising the profile of the need to look after your feet, encouraging people to explore the High Street and their local shops and good old family fun in the fresh air.

“It also provided an opportunity for me to do some fundraising for Educate The Kids, a charity I, along with many of my customers, have supported for the past six years.”

The Easter trail, which starts on Good Friday and runs until April 18, will see 25 paper eggs hidden in the windows of shops and small businesses around the town. Entrants need to spot the eggs and make a note of the letters written on each of them. The letters then need to be placed correctly in a paragraph published on the entry form.

This year there will be three trail options, one will concentrate on Portishead High Street area of the town, one will cover West Hill Triangle and the third option will combine both.

There is an optional £1 entry fee per person, which will go to help vulnerable children in a small village in Kenya. Tanya is a keen supporter of the Jolaurabi School in the area, having personally delivered hundreds of pairs of used shoes, donated by her customers, to the school over the years. Tanya hopes to return to deliver more shoes later this year.

Entry forms are available online by logging-on to www.solelution.co.uk or from SoleLution in Portishead High Street after the store reopens on April 12.

Entry fees can also be donated at the Go Fund Me page at https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-get-shoes-to-jolaurabi-school-kenya

The competition will run until April 18. All correct entries will be entered into a draw and the first 25 drawn out will win prizes.
