Richard William Purvis
PURVIS Richard William It's with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard William Purvis, 38, on December 18, 2022, after a 20-month battle with metastatic melanoma. Loving husband of Kim, and doting dog-dad to their rescue pup, Mia. Richard was a beloved son, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin and friend. Originally from Clevedon, he moved to Canada in 2019 to get married and was quickly adopted into his wife's large Filipino-Canadian family, becoming their beloved "white son." Though young at the time of his passing, Richard lived a good and happy life. He was a multimedia artist passionate about film, photography and how art intersected with the everyday. A well-travelled man, Richard lived in England, South Korea, Japan and Scotland before settling down in Canada. He was a kind and creative soul known for his relentless optimism, good-hearted nature, intelligence and honesty. Throughout the years, Richard built a reputation for climbing trees, wearing funny hats and waistcoats, liking penne, and creating some of the strangest cocktail mixes known to man. He was truly one of the best of us and will be terribly missed by his friends and family around the world. Richard will be laid to rest next to his nan in Clevedon thanks to the generosity of those who helped to raise funds for his final flight home. Family and friends will be welcome to attend a celebration of life, to be held in the UK in coming months. The public debut of his final art project will follow later this year. We look forward to making Richard proud and showing the world the beautiful work of a man with a beautiful soul.
