SHEILA PAULINE ROLLS
SHEILA PAULINE ROLLS, age 93, passed away peacefully on March 7th 2020 at the Chocolate Quarter in Keynsham. She had been weakened by a stroke 18 months ago. Sheila was born on 17th April 1926 in London to Cuthbert and Irene Theobald. She married Leslie John Rolls in 1952 who preceded her in death by exactly 19 years in 2001. Sheila moved to Congresbury in 1961 and adopted the village as her home for the remainder of her life. She worked there in the surgery, volunteered for numerous charities and enjoyed picking strawberries with her “gang” in Cheddar. She helped make countless teas at the cricket club and attended church services in Yatton, Congresbury, Clevedon and Nailsea. Sheila was always ready to lend a hand to those in need and she had numerous friends in the village. She touched so many people’s lives with her cheery nature and good humour. She doted upon her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, maintaining contact with them all as they travelled across the world. She was especially fond of her daughter Tina who has learning difficulties, visiting her regularly in her home in Radstock. Sheila is survived by three of her four children, Jerry, Tina and Fran; by her grandchildren Sam, Will, Guin, Lesley Ann, Lizzie, Sebastian, Dominic and Jessica; and by her great grandchildren Isaiah, Kallan, Kaio, Jasper, Tobin, Torin and Finn. She adored them all. Sheila’s daughter Shandy died in 1992 and Gemma her granddaughter died in 1996. The family are tentatively planning a memorial service in celebration of Sheila’s life at St. Andrew’s Church in Congresbury on October 1st 2020. In lieu of flowers donations would be gratefully accepted at Sheila’s favourite charity MenCap, mencap.co.uk.
