70th Wedding Anniversary KENNETH SYDNEY (21) and BETTY ANDERSON Betty (20) married in Hillingdon, Middlesex on the 30th August 1952. They met at the National Bakery School in Southwark, London where they both studied, Ken full time and Betty day-release. Betty was a traditional iced wedding cake decorator and Ken a flour confectioner studying bakery management and the science of cake making. After qualifying in 1948, eventually they left London to work for Hales Cakes, Clevedon, Ken as assistant production manager. Their daughter Corinne was born shortly afterwards. He stayed with the company through various take-overs and was with Lyons bakeries when it was sold to Allied Breweries; working both in the UK and abroad for their bakery division as a technical advisor. He retired in 2006 having developed modern cake making in Poland. They still live in Clevedon, as does their married daughter.
